Ready!

Out of nowhere, Griffin has started answering us whenever we ask if he's ready- for anything.

me: ok, it's bath time! Ready?
Griffin: READY!!

Drew: ok, we're going to leave now! Ready?
Griffin: READY!!

Best thing ever. This age is so challenging, but it's so sweet and perfect too. I wish I could replay those wonderful moments all throughout his life. I want to believe I will remember them when he is 9 and 16 and 25 but I have a feeling they will dim like most things do. It breaks my heart.

Speaking of broken hearts, Griffin currently has a really bad cold (or maybe flu) which I suspect may be turning into yet ANOTHER ear infection. Daycare called to have me pick him up on Friday afternoon- he was lethargic & had a fever of 103. The rest of the weekend, it has seemed to come and go, but this evening he was just SO miserable. He didn't touch lunch or dinner, and he just laid on his tummy moaning and watching tv before falling fast asleep at 6:30. SO out of character for him. I wish I could take it all away and make him feel good again. I wish it was me that felt miserable instead. I hate feeling so powerless. I hope he's better tomorrow.

I've been feeling dizzy pretty much 24 hours a day ever since our new peanut settled in. I take it as a good sign so I don't complain too much- though it DOES make it difficult to do the most normal things! We get to see New Baby K via ultrasound on Friday. I cant wait!! Hoping all goes well!

This weekend was bananas

Griffin is going through a MAJOR banana phase. He LOVES them. I think he's eaten 3 today alone. And because he loves them so much, he has learned how to say banana. Well, sort of.

We went to the Jefferson County fair yesterday and Griffin had an awesome time getting up close & personal with the livestock. Especially since he has mastered snorting like a pig!

riding the pony at the grocery store on the way home
Griffin has also been super sweet. He loves babies out of the blue (pretty random, actually) and will point at them in magazines and on the street. So I told him there is a baby in my tummy and he has started patting it and saying "bee-bee". He's going to be the BEST big brother ever.

This went on for about 5 minutes...

Busy Week

This has been a very busy week around our house. I started my new job on Monday!! It has been an absolutely amazing experience so far, but my brain has also been completely jammed full of information so it's been exhausting as well. Student Life is INCREDIBLE. It really is the pulse of the campus! Here are the first 5 fun/ interesting things that came to the top of my head about the first week of work:

1. I got to pick out my new office (which has great views of Lookout Mountain and Mount Zion) including the paint colors (I opted for a neutral with a dusty red accent wall), furniture etc.

2. I got to learn a lot more about my new boss and He. Is. Awesome. He's all about professional development and support/ challenge so I will get my own professional development account that I can use for conferences, memberships, magazines, supplies, whatever I want. He is letting us set our own hours, and he said that if we are still working there in 3 years, he will start sending us job announcements because he believes if we do our job well, we should all be moving on to bigger & better things!

3. I will be managing two classes- CSM 101 (the college intro class that every single Mines freshman is required to take) and Academics 101 (for students being readmitted after being academically dismissed). This means I will write and teach all curriculum, supervise 38 professors and 72 Peer Mentors, and manage our (giant) budget. I had to figure out fringe for my employees, people. FRINGE. As Cory would say: Like A Boss! :)

4. fun fact: the CSM campus is powered, in part, by excess steam from the Coors Brewery. It flows underground, melting any snow on our sidewalks along the way!

5. free schwag:

Griff has also had a busy week. He was learned several new words (banana, cookie, water, juice, and how to roar like a lion) and he has also learned how to blow kisses! Cutest thing EVER. He's been all about the movie Puss in Boots and we have watched it more times than I can count. Luckily its pretty funny. And yesterday, he apparently had a Butt Explosion at school, so he came home wearing this:

note the track pants and fleece vest with no shirt
Oh, and also, I'm pregnant.

Yep.

Due March 24th.

Has that sunk in yet for you? Because it hasn't for me!

We're still VERY early on (8 weeks today!) so we're not posting it on Facebook or blasting our family and friends with phone calls. In fact, we're still at the "anything can go phase". Like with Griffin, my progesterone levels have been VERY low with this baby. Even lower, actually. So I am on Prometrium again and we just have our fingers super crossed. But we know very few people read this blog (most of the people that do probably already know, and if this is news, then shhhh!) but I just sorta needed to write about it, since it's a pretty major thing in our life right now!

Which also contributes to the busy week, of course.

Here's to a relaxing weekend!

Bock

Griffin's best friend is a big stuffed frog. We didnt get too creative with naming, so we call him Mr. Frog. Since Griffin can't clearly pronounce "frog", he calls his friend "bock". Bock goes EVERYWHERE that Griffin goes. The other night I tucked Griffin into bed and he asked me for a book. I gave him one, because sometimes he likes to flip through the pictures as he falls asleep. Instead, he pulled Bock up on his lap and started "reading" him the book! He didn't even care that I left and pulled the door closed. CUTEST. EVER. SO proud of my little boy.

A long overdue yet semi forced post

Drew is FORCING me to write a blog right now because this is the evening he's feeling benevolent enough to share the computer. That's great & all, but now I can't remember anything I wanted to say!

What I can tell you is that Griffin had the BEST WEEKEND EVER last weekend. We went to the Buffalo Bill Days festival for dinner & music on Friday night.

Saturday started with a blueberry pancake breakfast at the Golden firehouse. I was pleasantly surprised- the food was DELICIOUS. Griffin agreed as evidenced by his purple face.

We were served by super nice firefighters and visited by police and politicians. I even met Griffin's future elementary school principal! But the entire time we ate, Griffin was eying the fire trucks. He has a HUGE thing for trucks right now. So when we finally got to go look at them close up, he was in heaven.

After that, we went to the Buffalo Bill Days parade, which he LOVED for the most part. (he only got crabby at the end, and I think that was because his nap was interrupted)

We had every intention of seeing the Wild West show after that, but it was HOT and they took forever to start, so we played in the river instead. Which was TOTALLY fine with Griffin.

Then, Sunday was training camp! There is nothing in the world that Griffin loves more than Broncos football. I cant tell you how many times I heard him scream "BRONCO" at the top of his lungs. We didn't have the absolute best seats, but we were in the shade with room to spread out, and in my book that is PERFECT.

Griffin actually took this one himself!
So it was action packed, and we were EXHAUSTED by the end of it, but it meant the world to see our little boy so beside himself with happiness.

Monday is my first day of work at my new job!! I am officially an Academic Advising Coordinator for the new Center for Academic Services & Advising. WOO! I am excited and nervous at the same time, as well as a bit sad to be leaving my current position and co-workers behind. But this is SUCH an amazingly important move for our family. We're all THRILLED!! Cant wait for what the future holds...
